Mastercard is a brand of credit and debit cards that was originally created by the United Bank of California. Years later it allied with other banks such as, First Interstate Bank, the financial services company Wells Fargo & Co, Crocker National Bank, and California First Bank. It is a public limited company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
